IMPORTANT NOTICE

The online distribution of OpenVMS and related product patches is being migrated to the HP ITRC (Information Technology Resource Center) patch distribution site. The new ITRC patch server will allow OpenVMS customers to take advantage of many enhanced features for patch searching and distribution.

Beginning August 1, 2003, OpenVMS and related Layered Product, publicly available patches will be available from the HP ITRC web site at

http://itrc.hp.com/service/patch/mainPage.do

The same patches will still be available from the existing patch server in Colorado Springs (http://www.support.compaq.com/patches/) through the end of October 2003, to give customers sufficient time to update their bookmarks and make the transition to the HP ITRC web site.

ECO kits will also be available by raw FTP from (ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/).

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR BOOKMARKS AND REGISTER ON THE NEW SITE NOW

Note: if you're having trouble connecting to the ITRC site, please delete any cookies for "itrc.hp.com" from your browser and try again. Report any difficulties with or suggestions to MrVMS

    ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for the DCL commands 'SET' and 'SHOW' on OpenVMS
VAX V6.2. This kit addresses the following problems:

Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU08_062 Kit:

o The VAXCLIU06_062 remedial kit required that the VAXCLUSIO01_062
kit be installed. If the user tried to install the VAXCLIU06_062
kit on a system that had both the VAXCLUSIO01_062 and OpenVMS
VAX Y2K remedial kits installed, the VAXCLIU06_062 kit did not
recognize that the VAXCLUSIO01_062 kit had been installed. This
caused the VAXCLIU06_062 installation to fail.

There are no new ECO problem corrections in this kit. If you
have installed the VAXCLIU06_062 remedial kit, you do not need
to install the VAXCLIU08_062 remedial kit.

Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU06_062 Kit:

o If a customer upgraded their system to V6.2 from V6.1, the
KITINSTAL.COM procedure, in kits that require the VAXCLUSIO01
remedial kit to be installed first, did not properly verify that the
VAXCLUSIO01_062 remedial kit had been installed.

Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU04_062 Kit:

o This problem was originally fixed in the VAXCLIU02_070 remedial kit,
but this is a new problem that has the same effect. This kit fixes
         the new problem.

When doing a SHOW PROCESS /CONTINUOUS command in a constrained
working set, it is possible to get a PGFIPLHI bugcheck.

The problem occurs because a reference is made at elevated IPL, to
one of several data cells located in pageable memory.

Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU02_070 Kit for OpenVMS VAX V6.2:

o When doing a SHOW PROCESS/CONTINUOUS command in a constrained
working set, it is possible to get a PGFIPLHI bugcheck.

Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU01_070 Kit for OpenVMS VAX V6.2:

o A DCL 'SHOW PROCESS/CONTINUOUS' command can cause a system crash
if the process being shown has already been deleted.

o In V5.5, when LAT master was used to replace the old LTDRIVER, a
problem was found that might, in certain circumstances, cause a
fatal bugcheck. This occurred if the DCL commands

              SET TERMINAL/PROTOCOL=DDCMP LTAn
         or
              SET TERMINAL/PROTOCOL=NONE LTAn

were used. Since DDCMP protocol has never been supported on LAT
ports, a decision was made to disable the use of these commands on
LAT ports. Since V5.5 shipped it has been found that many customers
have third-party software that does do DDCMP on LAT ports. This has
become a major customer satisfaction issue.

Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU01_062 Kit for OpenVMS VAX V6.2:

o The index file of a disk can become corrupted. Closer examination
of the index file will show that a large number of blocks in the
index file, at contiguous VBNs from the start of the file, will
have two words corrupted in the file at offsets 0x3a and 0x1FE.
These correspond to the locations of checksum1 and checksum2 in a
         volume home block (homeblock).

NOTE: In order to receive this full fix, the VAXVERI01_071 ECO
kit must also be installed on your system.

    INSTALLATION NOTES:

The images in this kit will not take effect until the system is
rebooted. If there are other nodes in the VMS cluster, they must
also be rebooted in order to make use of the new image(s). If it
is not possible or convenient to reboot the entire cluster at this
time, a rolling re-boot may be performed.
