IMPORTANT NOTICE

The online distribution of OpenVMS and related product patches is being migrated to the HP ITRC (Information Technology Resource Center) patch distribution site. The new ITRC patch server will allow OpenVMS customers to take advantage of many enhanced features for patch searching and distribution.

Beginning August 1, 2003, OpenVMS and related Layered Product, publicly available patches will be available from the HP ITRC web site at

http://itrc.hp.com/service/patch/mainPage.do

The same patches will still be available from the existing patch server in Colorado Springs (http://www.support.compaq.com/patches/) through the end of October 2003, to give customers sufficient time to update their bookmarks and make the transition to the HP ITRC web site.

ECO kits will also be available by raw FTP from (ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/).

PLEASE UPDATE YOUR BOOKMARKS AND REGISTER ON THE NEW SITE NOW

Note: if you're having trouble connecting to the ITRC site, please delete any cookies for "itrc.hp.com" from your browser and try again. Report any difficulties with or suggestions to MrVMS

    ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for DEBUG on OpenVMS Alpha V7.0. This kit
    addresses the following problems:

Problems Addressed in the ALPDEBU07_070 kit

o There are no new problem fixes in this kit. The kit is being
re-issued as a single version kit. If you have installed the
ALPDEBU01_071 remedial kit, you do not need to install the
         ALPDEBU07_070 kit.

Problems Addressed in the ALPDEBU01_071 Kit:

o Build the debugger against Motif V1.2-3 and provide workarounds
in the debugger for bugs which are currently fixed in Motif V1.2-4.

Problems Addressed in the ALPDEBU06_070 Kit:

o HELP file was not included in the ALPDEBU05_070 ECO kit.

Problems Addressed in the ALPDEBU03_070 ECO Kit (V7.0 Only):

o The debugger may hang with DECthreads and kernel threads enabled.

Problems Addressed in the ALPDEBU02_070 Kit:

o On startup, DEBUG occasionally fails with an ACCVIO on some Alpha
         programs.

Problems Addressed in the ALPDEBU01_070 Kit (V7.0 Only):

o Japanese users report that the Debug GUI does not support
         Kana-Kanji conversions.

o Source view line numbers are not visible on Alpha systems running
         CDE and Motif V1.2.4.

o It is difficult to debug problems in the Heap Analyzer (HA) kernel,
         especially problems during startup.

o HA main was failing to display error messages to SYS$OUTPUT when
appropriate. In particular, when DECW$DISPLAY was not set properly,
HA main failed to inform the user of its inability to run.

o User Interface Language (UIL) files contained names > 31 characters
long which cause UIL compilation failures on V7.0.

o Applications linked with PTHREAD$RTL go into an infinite loop when
run with the Heap Analyzer (HA) and with kernel threads enabled.

o Narrow the window between when DEBUG gains control and the call to
the threads facility to stop task scheduling.
