ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO (patch) kit exists for VMS DECwindows Motif V1.0 on OpenVMS VAX
V5.4 through V5.5-1. This kit addresses the following problems:

o DECterm windows unexpectedly disappear on systems with VMS
DECwindows Motif installed.

Programs experience access violation (ACCVIO) errors while
attempting to deliver read and/or write completion ASTs for the
PTD$ I/O routines.

This problem is fixed in OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2.

o If the user buffer is in the wrong state, an error my occur.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

The system/cluster does not need to be rebooted after this kit is
installed. However, if other nodes exist in the VAXcluster, you must
reinstall the new image on each node in order for all kit changes to
take effect. This can be accomplished by issuing the following
command on each node after the installation is complete.

$ INSTALL
INSTALL> REPLACE SYS$LIBRARY:PTD$SERVICES_SHR.EXE
INSTALL> EXIT

NOTE: The VMSINSTAL procedure does this automatically on the node the
kit was installed on.
